With more than three decades of teaching and mentoring experience in teaching college and high school chemistry, Professor Jianping Huang is a creative, inspiring, and detail-oriented teacher. With the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) in mind, his classes cover all major topics of modern chemistry, including general chemistry, analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and experimental laboratory skills. He has designed his teaching materials based on thorough analysis of the Chemistry Olympiad Exams at all levels and across multiple countries. Through his systematic teaching, many students with zero chemistry knowledge have become national and world top young chemists.

He has sent 96 students to the USNCO study camp. This annual prestigious chemistry program brings the top 20 students of the nation together for two weeks and prepares them for the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO). In 2023, 15 of the 20 students selected from the whole nation for the two-week intensive study camp came from Professor Jianping Huang’s classes; among those 15 students, five of them were selected into the US IChO team, four members and one alternate. Up to now, 15 of professor Huang’s students have represented the United States at the IChO and won 9 gold medals and 6 silver medals. Furthermore, his students have won awards at the Intel’s ISEF and Siemens Competition. Many of his students go on to attend the top colleges and pursue chemistry-related careers. See details in Professor Huang’s past achievements.

As a passionate educator, Professor Huang helps middle and high school students become more successful in studying chemistry.  His excellent mentorship and instruction will prepare students to be more competitive in local, national, and international competitions.
