“Hello Dr. Huang,
I wanted to thank you for the amazing experience I had taking your Advanced Chemistry Olympiad class and the Organic Chemistry class. The unique way in which you explained chemistry with such great passion and enthusiasm inspired me to work even harder and learn more about the subject.
Despite the fact that I fell short of my goal in the USNCO, the knowledge I gained from your classes helped me pursue my first independent research project in biochemistry which would win 3rd place at ISEF. I can’t thank you enough for the amazing experience I had attending your classes. I will be attending Stanford University this fall to study Computer Science with a focus in AI. Ultimately, I want to apply these computational techniques to different domains of inorganic and organic chemistry and materials science. I know that the foundation I gained from your classes will be instrumental to my future in chemistry.
Again, I can’t thank you enough for everything that you have done for me and continue to do for other students like me. The world needs more people like you who have such great kindness towards others and fiery passion for what they do. Thanks so much!
Sincerely,
Matthew”

“Hello Dr. Huang,
I am Sneha Vashistha, I joined your in-person chemistry classes in the spring of 2018 and finished through the course in 2020. Through your classes, I gained an incredible interest in chemistry, was able to test into AP Chemistry at Carmel High School, take part in USNCO competition, USABO competition, and Science Olympiad.
As I gained a deep interest in biochemistry, last spring, I applied for the SSP Summer Science Program, which you had recommended to us when I was younger. I was accepted into the biochemistry program and spent the summer working in the IU chemistry lab with 36 students from around the world and conducted research on the inhibition of AaCdc14. Throughout the program, I was excited to use all the knowledge I gained from your course, from fundamentals of organic and inorganic chemistry, to keeping a college level work ethic and professional attitude of learning. I have attached the final research paper on this email.
I wanted to sincerely thank you for your classes and all of the support, mentorship, and for budding my interest in chemistry. Now, as a senior, I am applying to colleges looking to major in biological and chemical engineering. I hope to continue learning chemistry and furthering my interest in the subject. Thank you so much for instilling this passion for education and chemistry in me at a young age, shaping my future and further education.
Thank you so much,
Sneha”

“Hello Dr. Huang,
I hope you are doing well! As I graduated recently, I wanted to write this to thank you for your teaching and mentorship over the last few years.
Even though I missed the chance to compete last year, your encouragement and enthusiasm taught me to set ambitious goals while appreciating the beauty of chemistry and the molecular life sciences. You taught me to not only appreciate chemistry itself, but to make use of what I know through competition. I will always be thankful for lighting me with a competitive spirit, and the desire to continuously improve and seek new, creative answers to difficult questions.
I will be attending Harvard to study Molecular Biology starting this fall, and I want to thank you for your dedicated support which made this possible for me! Harvard has always been my lifelong dream, but I could not have fulfilled it without you. Your classes have opened and prepared me for this tremendous opportunity. Chemistry will undoubtedly compose a significant part of my future career, and I will remember you for guiding my foundation.
I hope to hear more about you and your students' success in the future! It really is an exciting time to learn chemistry in Carmel.
With many thanks,” — Edward D. (Harvard 2025)
“Dear Dr. Huang,
Thank you so much for changing my life in so many aspects. Your classes not only taught me challenging concepts, but also crucial skills such as perseverance and humility. After spending two years in your class, I became more comfortable with not knowing everything and making mistakes on the homework. I learned to keep learning new things because the journey never ends. Your passion for chemistry inspired me to study chemical biology in college as I have interests in working in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Your support encouraged me to never underestimate my capabilities and to always work towards big goals in life. It was during these past two years that I grew the most in various ways. I am also very grateful to have you as a teacher because you made my dream schools like MIT and Stanford come true.
I hope that you can visit me in Boston in the future.” — Vivian H. (MIT 2025)
“Hello Professor Huang,
I wanted to write to you before the start of the next year class.
While I was not able to take the exam this year (due to Covid-19 pandemic), I am thankful for all that you have taught me. These past two years have had the most impact yet, and a major part of that was because of your class. The lectures and questions were very helpful when delving deeply into the topics. The people I have met from the class will continue to push me with good rivalry. And your dedication still inspires me to work diligently.
In addition to learning more about Chemistry than I imagined possible, I learned about myself as well. I found a new strength in me to chase a goal with others who share my passion. I learned that doing well on a test is not the ultimate goal of knowledge, rather it is to enrich my own experience and satisfy my curiosity.
While I am no longer taking the class, Albert will. Thank you for teaching him as well, and I hope that he will be able to make the camp and possibly go even further. “ — Benjamin T. (Harvard 2024)
“I know you have many students every year and get many emails like this but I wanted to email you because I am so grateful that I took your class in high school. I am a sophomore at Purdue and am majoring in Biochemistry/Chemistry and am also premed. I just finished Organic Chemistry and was one of the only few to get an A. I took Gen Chem and Inorganic last year and also did well in those classes. If it was not for you I might have not done that well in Organic Chemistry considering it is infamous for being a hard subject. I also got my EMT certificate over summer and we had a unit on pharmacology which is a lot of chemistry. Thank you for helping develop my chemistry skills. I hope we can keep in touch. Happy Holidays! Thank you,” — Karthik Ravichandran
“Professor Huang
Just want you to know how much we have appreciated your faith in him and the constant support and encouragement you provided since he became your student. We felt that way before he made Top 20. His accomplishment is a reinforcement and result of your belief in him for which we are grateful.Meanwhile, congratulations on being able to count 50% of the finalists among your students. That is an amazing statistic.” — Michael Bald (Ridings Bald’s father) Ridings Bald (2019 and 2020 USNCO camp qualifier, national Top 20)
“I had a really amazing teacher. He taught me a lot of chemistry. He was really inspiring, and his passion helped fuel mine.” — Adrew Wu (2018 International Chemistry Olympiad Gold medalist)
